Speed is the enemy of beauty

Speed is the enemy of beauty

said Giuseppe Maggiolini, the most renowned Italian cabinetmaker of the 18th century.

We live in a time that constantly pushes us to move faster.
To do more, more quickly. To decide immediately. To produce without pause. And yet, at the beginning of this new year, we feel the need to move in the opposite direction.

Taking the right amount of time is not a limitation.
It is a form of clarity. It is the time needed to truly reflect, to make better decisions, to let the mind wander. Because when the mind slows down, it recharges, opens up, and regains depth.

At Midsummer Milano, time has never been an obstacle. It is a tool.
Building well requires slowness: listening to materials, respecting each gesture, allowing every phase to find its natural rhythm.

Our sleep systems are not the result of accelerated processes, but of precise actions repeated with care. Each mattress is made one at a time, because only this way can comfort become real, not just a promise. We believe that beauty, like wellbeing, cannot be rushed.
It needs time, attention, and quiet.

This is the wish we share with you for the year ahead:
the courage to slow down, in order to create things that truly last.
