Not all wool is created equal

Norwegian sheep graze in the mountains all summer long. The cool climate provides poor living conditions for bacteria, which means that once sheared the wool does not have to be treated with strong chemicals.

While white wool from crossbred sheep is more uniform and thus easier to process, wool from old Norwegian black breed has longer, stronger and softer fibers. The production of this rare wool is entrusted to only a few farmers and the yields are small.

Norwegian sheep are perfectly suited to the Norwegian climate and surroundings. While modern "Norwegian White Sheep" are held mainly for purposes other than wool, the wool quality is the main reason for raising “Norwegian Black Sheep".
