In a far-away land sheep and penguins live together in harmony – the Falkland Islands

We are really passionate about creating the most comfortable mattresses you can dream of, so we decided to offer a new wool for the custom padding of our mattresses: the Falkland wool, possibly the best wool for mattresses in the world.

Sheep are central to the Falklands economy. They are so important that the local daily radio weather forecast includes the wind chill temperature for newly shorn sheep.

Falkland wool is actually a mix of breeds like Corridale, Polwarth and Dohne Merino. These breeds were specifically developed and bred for the ability to survive in the harsh climate of the South Atlantic. The upside of the harsh climate is that insects and diseases do not spread - and so the sheep live happier and their wool can be totally chemical free. The shepherds are really serious about their wool, in developing and maintaining its quality. Each shepherd's view and results are individual, although they definitely work together so the entire clip is of high quality. The mix between the climate and the absence of pesticides produce a wonderfully soft fiber, of a pure white color, felting, smooth and luxurious.

From the remoteness of the south Atlantic the bales of wool travel a very long way to England and from there to Italy where Midsummer will use this outstanding wool to manufacture the best mattress for your comfort.
