Care and Maintenance
Midsummer Milano: a Lasting Investment in Quality and Comfort
A Midsummer Milano mattress is an investment in both the quality of materials and the quality of your sleep. Designed to last for at least 25 years with proper care, each mattress is crafted using natural materials that adapt to your body over time, ensuring long-lasting comfort and durability.
Natural Mattress Settling
Your Midsummer mattress is filled with premium natural materials like horsehair, cotton, linen, and wool, which naturally conform to the shape of your body and sleep style. Over time, you may notice a slight reduction in the surface thickness (less than 20 mm), which is a normal part of the settling process. This adjustment occurs as the natural fibers adapt to your body weight and sleeping habits.
Care and Handling
Midsummer mattresses are heavier due to the use of natural materials, so handling them requires care:
- After removing the cardboard packaging, leave the mattress in its cellophane while placing it on the bed. Only remove the plastic once the mattress is in position.
- Do not use the handles for carrying. They are meant for adjusting the mattress once placed on the boxspring, not for lifting or transporting.
Natural Odor
Upon arrival, you may notice a slight natural odor from the materials used in your mattress. This is normal, and the smell will dissipate within a few months as the materials breathe.
Handcrafted Seams
Due to the artisanal craftsmanship involved in creating each Midsummer Milano mattress, minor inaccuracies in the seams may be present. These are a testament to the handmade quality of each piece.
Warranty and Care Guidelines
Each Midsummer Milano mattress comes with a 25-year written warranty against spring breakage from the date of delivery. To activate your warranty, register your mattress at www.midsummer-milano.com.
Care Instructions:
- Rotate the mattress (head to foot) and flip it (top to bottom) weekly for the first three months, then twice a month thereafter.
- Handles are for adjusting the mattress, not for lifting or carrying. Avoid tearing on handles by doing so.
- Do not use solvents, chemicals, or steam cleaners on the fabric. Instead, gently brush or use a low-powered vacuum.
- Electric blankets are not recommended, as they may affect the durability of the mattress components.
- Always use a high-quality mattress cover to protect your investment.
Important Care Tips:
- Avoid wetting the fabric. Do not iron or wash with water.
- Remove packaging within a day of delivery to avoid moisture buildup and condensation.
- Never jump on the mattress or perform actions that could damage its structure.
- Expect a short adaptation period as your body adjusts to the new mattress, particularly if you've been using a different type for a long time.
- The flakes on your mattress ensure the padding stays firmly in place. They are designed to break under excessive stress but are easily replaceable.
